The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly exploring the possibility of adding veteran centers Kevon Looney and Jonas Valanciunas to strengthen their frontcourt this offseason, according to sources who spoke with Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.
As free agency continues, Los Angeles is said to be prioritizing upgrades at two key positions, with the front office actively searching for both another wing player and an experienced big man to improve the roster around Luka Doncic.
With Rui Hachimura not expected to return to the team, the Lakers are also being connected to a potential pursuit of Jonathan Kuminga, who could provide additional athleticism, defensive versatility, and scoring on the wing if a deal can be worked out.
Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets are reportedly attempting to move Jonas Valanciunas, making the veteran center a realistic option for teams seeking size and rebounding.
The Lakers have shown interest in Valanciunas before, having unsuccessfully tried to sign him two years ago, and that previous interest could be renewed this summer.
Valanciunas is currently on a contract worth $10 million for next season, but that figure can be reduced to just $2 million if he is waived before July 8, potentially making him an even more attractive and affordable target for teams looking to add veteran frontcourt depth.
