The Charlotte Hornets are adding another undrafted rookie after agreeing to a two-way contract with former Illinois guard Kylan Boswell.
Boswell began his college career at Arizona before transferring to Illinois, where he spent his final two seasons as a full-time starter.
Across his junior and senior years, the 6-foot-2 guard averaged 12.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists while earning a reputation as one of the Big Ten’s top perimeter defenders.
Although his three-point shooting declined after transferring to Illinois, Boswell improved his efficiency inside the arc and used his physical style of play to become an All-Big Ten Defensive Team selection.
The 21-year-old is expected to join fellow undrafted rookie Michael Ajayi on Charlotte’s two-way roster.
With Tosan Evbuomwan reportedly being waived and Antonio Reeves entering free agency, Boswell has an opportunity to earn developmental minutes with both the Hornets and their G League affiliate during his rookie season.
