
Atlanta Hawks guard CJ McCollum has agreed to a one-year, $21 million contract extension with the franchise, plus a trade kicker, agent Sam Goldfeder of Excel Sports Management tells ESPN.
The deal prevents McCollum from reaching free agency this summer and secures his place in Atlanta moving forward.
Eligible for an extension through June 30, the veteran guard chose to remain with the Hawks on a new contract that now keeps him under team control through next season.
McCollum played an important role in Atlanta’s strong finish to the regular season.
The Hawks went 19-4 with him in the starting lineup from Feb. 22 through the end of the season, benefiting from his scoring ability, floor spacing, and experience.
His presence helped provide consistency as the team closed out the campaign.
The extension follows another productive year for McCollum, who recorded his 11th consecutive season with at least 150 made three-pointers.
According to ESPN Research, that ties for the fourth-most such seasons in NBA history, further highlighting his long-standing reputation as one of the league’s most dependable perimeter shooters.
With this agreement, the Hawks keep an experienced veteran on the roster and maintain continuity heading into next season.
McCollum is now under contract through the 2026-27 campaign.
