Interest in a potential Ja Morant trade continues to build around the league, with the New Orleans Pelicans and Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly among the teams monitoring the Memphis Grizzlies star point guard.

During a recent appearance on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back, Sam Amick of The Athletic indicated that New Orleans may currently be the team best positioned to pursue a deal, noting that the Pelicans are likely the frontrunner if Memphis decides to move Morant.

The Grizzlies explored the trade market for Morant before last season’s deadline but were ultimately unable to find a deal that materialized.

Since then, league observers have anticipated that Memphis could revisit those discussions during the offseason as the organization evaluates its long-term direction.

The Timberwolves have also been linked to Morant for an extended period, with speculation dating back to last year.

However, constructing a trade could prove difficult because of the financial challenges involved in matching his contract.

New Orleans may have a more straightforward path, though acquiring Morant would likely require significant roster changes, potentially including veteran guard Dejounte Murray.

The Pelicans also have young guard Jeremiah Fears, a recent first-round selection, already developing within their backcourt.

Morant remains under contract for two more seasons, earning $42.2 million this year and $44.8 million next season.

His star power is expected to generate continued interest around the league if Memphis actively engages in trade negotiations during the offseason.
