Josh Hart has built his reputation on doing the little things that contribute to winning, and his willingness to prioritize team success over individual statistics played a major role in the New York Knicks championship run.
While many players are judged by their scoring numbers, Hart has consistently found ways to impact games through rebounding, defense, hustle, and overall versatility.
According to The Athletic, that selfless approach is one of the reasons he is viewed as the type of player every contender would love to have.
Hart acknowledged that accepting a role outside the spotlight is not always easy, but said embracing it ultimately helped lead to team success.
“Everybody wants to be the guy that scores the most, that puts the ball in the basket, and that’s not everybody’s path,” Hart said.
“That wasn’t my path, and sometimes that’s a tough pill to swallow, but when you embrace that, when you’re a star in your role. You take pride in doing the little things, that breeds winning basketball.”
Hart added that the support he received from New York made those sacrifices easier to make, even during difficult moments throughout the season.
“For me, as embraced as I was in this city, wearing this jersey, that sacrifice was easy. Some days, it was tough, don’t get me wrong. But you sacrifice for moments like this.”
