Bulls finalize four coaching candidates

The Chicago Bulls are reportedly nearing a decision in their head coaching search, with the franchise expected to choose from a group of four finalists in the coming days.

According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, Chicago could make its final selection as early as Monday as it looks to fill the vacancy left by former head coach Billy Donovan, who departed the organization after leading the team since 2020 and remains available on the coaching market.

The four finalists are Tiago Splitter, who served as interim head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, current Bulls assistant Wes Unseld Jr., Ryan Schmidt of the Atlanta Hawks coaching staff, and Micah Nori, an assistant with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

With the 2026 NBA Draft just over a week away, the Bulls appear eager to finalize their coaching situation and begin shaping the next phase of the franchise.

The hiring will be particularly significant because it marks the first head coaching decision made under new basketball operations leader Bryson Graham.

Once Chicago fills its opening, the only remaining head coaching vacancies around the league will be with the Portland Trail Blazers and Dallas Mavericks.
