Caleb Wilson could be an ideal fit for the Bulls as the franchise continues to build around a younger core, according to Julia Poe of The Chicago Tribune.
Poe points to Wilson’s elite athleticism as one of the traits that makes him particularly attractive for Chicago’s future plans.
The North Carolina forward consistently showcased his ability to finish above the rim, averaging 2.8 dunks per game during his collegiate career, and his athletic profile is viewed as one that should translate effectively to the NBA level.
Poe also suggests the Bulls may look to address their need at center with the 15th overall pick.
While Michigan big man Aday Mara is expected to be selected earlier in the draft, several other prospects could draw Chicago’s attention, including Italian center Luigi Suigo, Washington’s Hannes Steinbach and Houston’s Chris Cenac.
Elsewhere, Malik Beasley’s NBA future remains on hold.
Omari Sankofa II of The Detroit Free Press reports that Beasley, who did not play at all this season, is still being investigated as part of the league’s gambling probe and is not expected to return until that matter is fully resolved.
Despite the uncertainty, the Pistons retain Beasley’s non-Bird rights, allowing them to offer a contract worth up to $7.2 million in starting salary.
Sankofa also addressed Detroit’s offseason outlook, noting that restricted free agent Jalen Duren is a candidate for a new contract extension, while predicting that Isaiah Stewart is likely to remain part of the Pistons’ plans moving forward.
