Thunder view Alex Caruso as untouchable

Alex Caruso’s place in Oklahoma City’s future appears secure, with league insiders viewing the veteran guard as a player the Thunder are determined to keep despite an increasingly expensive roster.

As the franchise prepares for substantial salary increases tied to stars Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren, difficult financial decisions could eventually be required.

However, Caruso is not expected to be part of those discussions after establishing himself as one of the team’s most trusted veterans.

The former Bulls guard delivered another strong postseason, providing leadership, defensive intensity and reliable production throughout Oklahoma City’s playoff run.

His impact was especially evident in the Western Conference Finals against San Antonio, where he emerged as one of the Thunder’s most effective players.

Caruso is entering the second season of a four-year, $81 million contract and has already expressed his desire to continue his career in Oklahoma City.

Acquired from Chicago in exchange for Josh Giddey in 2024, Caruso has quickly become one of the franchise’s most important players both on and off the court.
