New Milwaukee Bucks head coach Taylor Jenkins recently broke down his degree from the Wharton School of UPenn.
(via Taylor Jenkins Introductory Conversation with Lisa Byington):
“So, it’s an interesting title. It’s a Bachelor of Science in economics with a concentration in management and a minor in psychology. So, that’s way too many words. So business major, management was the focus. Even when I was younger, just what was captivating to me was to be in a leadership role. I didn’t think I had the mind to be in Wall Street and finance and accounting as much as Penn and Wharton, that’s a big game there. Just being a connector of people was something I was really striving for dating back to when I was in middle school and high school. Obviously in college, I got that exposure in the classroom and the extracurriculars that we had outside.
“So I hope to this day, I’m using my management skills. The psychology, I just love studying people. I love just absorbing and being in environments where I just watch how people move and how people talk. And sometimes, I just love being a fly on the wall. And sometimes, I’ve got to engage with people as well. So, the study of people was interesting to me. When I was younger, I wanted to be a teacher. Where that came from? I had great role models in the classroom. I had great coaches in the athletic fields and courts. So I was like, ‘You know, one day I’d love to be a teacher.’ So, management, psychology, teacher. Now, I’m an NBA basketball coach.”
