Mike James’ situation with AS Monaco has reportedly taken another dramatic turn, as the star guard is now expected to boycott Game 2 of the French League quarterfinal series against JL Bourg, according to L’Equipe.
After completing his suspension, James had been anticipated to return to Monaco’s lineup for Wednesday’s playoff game.
However, reports now indicate the veteran scorer plans to stay away from the team because of financial disagreements.
According to BasketNews sources, James’ playoff availability may ultimately depend on direct talks with club president Alekszej Fedoricsev.
The report also noted that the current dispute is not connected to Monaco’s public funding situation or internal locker room dynamics.
James was previously suspended for three games following an incident involving officials during a matchup against ASVEL.
Monaco is still attempting to convince him to travel with the team, but uncertainty continues to surround the situation.
