The New York Knicks have won seven consecutive games since head coach Mike Brown expanded Karl-Anthony Towns’ role as a primary offensive facilitator.

According to Mike Lupica of The New York Daily News, Towns’ former college coach John Calipari has been especially impressed with how the Knicks’ offense has evolved.

“What everybody is seeing is that playing through him the way they are doesn’t take away from anybody else’s game,” Calipari said.

The Arkansas coach believes Towns’ increased involvement has actually improved the team’s overall offensive flow rather than limiting opportunities for teammates.

“On the contrary, it adds to everybody else’s game,” Calipari said. “And is exactly right for this team.”

The longtime coach also compared Towns’ current style of play to Nikola Jokić because of the way he impacts the game as a playmaker without needing a high shot volume.

“The style of game he’s been playing, especially since they got behind the Hawks, I call that Jokic style,” Calipari said, “and that’s without him getting a ton of shots.”
