A strong bond has formed between Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe of the Philadelphia 76ers during their first season as teammates, writes Gina Mizell of the Philly Inquirer.

The two have combined a playful dynamic with a competitive edge, consistently pushing one another while also keeping mutual respect at the center of their relationship.

“We’re hard on each other, and then we also understand,” Edgecombe said about their occasional on-court spats. “Every time he has something to say, I know it’s always coming from a place of love.”

Maxey described the rookie as his “little brother,” and Edgecombe shared that he hopes their partnership will be remembered historically.

Meanwhile, Kelly Oubre Jr. needed time to carve out his role in the NBA, but his stint with the Sixers has seen him evolve into a more polished and dependable veteran, Mizell writes.

Head coach Nick Nurse has often pointed to Oubre’s adaptability, noting that his ability to step into different roles has been particularly important given the team’s ongoing lineup instability over the past few years.
