Nuggets guard Peyton Watson is expected to miss time with a hamstring injury and is currently considered week-to-week, head coach David Adelman said Friday, according to DNVR Nuggets.
Watson will sit out Saturday’s game against San Antonio and is likely to miss additional games after leaving Wednesday’s win over Utah with right hamstring tightness.
The injury is a recurrence of a previous issue that sidelined him for over six weeks earlier this season in February and March.
Despite the setbacks, Watson has been in the midst of a breakout year, averaging career highs of 14.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 blocks in 29.6 minutes per game while shooting 49.1 percent from the field and 41.1 percent from three.
He has started 40 of 54 games.
Denver has dealt with multiple injuries this season but still sits at 49 wins and holds the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference, which would secure home-court advantage in the first round.
In Watson’s absence, Cameron Johnson and Julian Strawther are expected to take on larger roles. Watson is also set to enter restricted free agency this summer.
