Cam Thomas delivered 34 points in his second game with the Milwaukee Bucks, helping the team beat the Orlando Magic 116-108 on Wednesday night. “It means a lot just having him having that confidence in me… go down the stretch and finish,” Thomas said about Doc Rivers trusting him in key moments.
After a 1-for-5 start in the first quarter, Thomas said he adjusted by reading the floor and taking open looks. “I was just missing shots really… I think I did a good job taking what they were giving me and executing,” he explained.
Thomas scored 15 points in the third quarter and got to the free-throw line multiple times. “Getting to the line… means everything because you get your flow, get your rhythm, form shots, and it puts pressure on the defense,” he said.
Jericho Sims also had a standout performance, and Thomas praised their chemistry. “He was amazing tonight… offensive rebounding, putbacks, lobs. I love playing with live threats,” Thomas said.
Rivers compared Thomas to Jamal Crawford and Lou Williams, citing his scoring ability and quick impact. “Means a lot having that confidence early… I’m more than just a scorer,” Thomas responded, highlighting his playmaking and ability to draw defense.
Kevin Porter Jr. added a triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists, while Jericho Sims and Ousmane Dieng contributed 17 points each, with Sims pulling down 11 rebounds. The Bucks outrebounded Orlando 47-30 and improved to 22-30.
Desmond Bane led the Magic with 31 points, Paolo Banchero scored 17, and Jalen Suggs had 16 points, 10 assists, and four steals. Bane hit eight straight points late, including a three-pointer to tie the game at 104, but Kyle Kuzma’s layup gave Milwaukee the lead for good at 108-106.
Thomas signed with the Bucks on Sunday and played 39 minutes, hitting four three-pointers on 12-of-20 shooting. Both teams travel Thursday: Milwaukee at Oklahoma City, and Orlando at Sacramento.
