New York Knicks wing OG Anunoby will miss his fourth consecutive game due to a toenail avulsion on his right foot, and head coach Mike Brown said there is still no definitive timetable for his return, according to James L. Edwards III.

Anunoby is being treated as day-to-day. New York has gone 1-2 without him entering Wednesday’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers, suffering a lopsided loss to the Detroit Pistons on Friday before falling to the Indiana Pacers in overtime Tuesday.

With Anunoby sidelined, rookie Mohamed Diawara has seen increased opportunity.

The Knicks’ lone rookie and the 51st pick in the 2025 draft has drawn attention for his offensive contributions, but his defensive performance in Boston stood out even more, according to Steve Popper of Newsday.

In that game, Diawara spent time guarding both Payton Pritchard and Jaylen Brown effectively, earning the team’s defensive player of the game honor – an internal award introduced under Brown.

“It was tough because they’re both great players, but I was ready to take the challenge to guard them,” Diawara said. “And I was happy the coaches put me on them because that means they think I’m a great defender, and I appreciate it.”

Brown added that Diawara’s impact goes beyond matchups, pointing to his willingness to handle the details, diving for loose balls, making smart passes, and consistently defending with effort, as the qualities that have impressed the coaching staff most.
