The Golden State Warriors engaged in serious and wide-ranging discussions with the Memphis Grizzlies several weeks ago regarding a potential trade for Jaren Jackson Jr., built around a framework comparable to the offer that was eventually presented by the Utah Jazz.

Those negotiations were paused once Giannis Antetokounmpo became available on the market.

After Jackson was ultimately moved to Utah, Golden State pivoted toward a more conservative transaction, reaching an agreement with the Atlanta Hawks to acquire Kristaps Porzingis.

Jackson, a two-time All-Star and former Defensive Player of the Year, is 26 years old and remains under team control through his player option in 2029.

He is represented by agents Austin Brown and Max Saidman of Creative Artists Agency.

During the offseason, Memphis secured Jackson long-term by finalizing a renegotiate-and-extend agreement that will pay him $240 million across five seasons.
