The Utah Jazz plan to waive forward Chris Boucher, NBA insider Michael Scotto reported on Thursday, February 5. Boucher was acquired from the Boston Celtics on February 4 in exchange for John Tonje, a 2027 second-round pick, and cash considerations.
Boucher, 33, has averaged 8.7 points and 5.1 rebounds over his nine-year NBA career. In limited action this season with Boston, he played nine games, posting 2.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in 10.4 minutes per contest.
The move opens a roster spot for Utah, currently 13th in the Western Conference with a 16-36 record.
Boucher is expected to attract interest from playoff contenders looking for depth at forward and center positions. His career includes productive seasons with Toronto, highlighted by a 13.6-point average in 2020-21.
Boucher now becomes a free agent and could play a key role on a team seeking frontcourt reinforcement down the stretch of the season.
