Victor Wembanyama recorded 29 points and 11 rebounds to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 135-123 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night at American Airlines Center.
The Spurs improved to 35-16, while Dallas fell to 19-32, extending their season-long six-game losing streak despite Cooper Flagg’s 32 points, marking his fourth consecutive 30-point game as a teenager.
Wembanyama started hot, making his first five three-pointers and scoring 20 points by halftime, helping San Antonio maintain double-digit leads through much of the first half.
De’Aaron Fox added 17 points and two crucial late three-pointers in the fourth quarter, including one assisted by Wembanyama that gave the Spurs a 131-123 lead with 1:24 remaining.
Harrison Barnes was one of seven Spurs in double figures, contributing 19 points, while Devin Vassell added 12 and Julian Champagnie scored 14 as San Antonio’s depth kept the Mavericks at bay.
Flagg delivered most of his 32 points in the second half, bringing Dallas within one possession after trailing by 13, but the Mavericks could not overtake the Spurs in the closing minutes.
Naji Marshall matched Flagg with 32 points for Dallas, and Daniel Gafford posted 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Stephon Castle added 18 points and seven rebounds, finishing with a highlight dunk that punctuated the Mavericks’ final tally but could not change the outcome.
The Spurs shot 51 percent from the field, including 41 percent on three-pointers, while Dallas finished 48 percent overall and 39 percent from beyond the arc, with turnovers proving costly in key stretches.
Both teams meet again on Saturday in San Antonio, giving the Spurs a chance to extend their winning streak and the Mavericks an opportunity to snap their losing skid.
