New York Knicks big man Karl-Anthony Towns earned his sixth All-Star selection on Sunday night, even as his scoring efficiency has fluctuated at times this season.

Knicks head coach Mike Brown strongly defended Towns’ inclusion, pointing to his overall impact and importance to the team, according to Jared Schwartz of the New York Post.

“He’s leading us in rebounds, he’s second in scoring,” Brown said. “I don’t know how many double-doubles he has, but that’s impactful when you’re talking about doing it in a winning situation … We should have, in my opinion, two or three guys, at least, on this All-Star team based on what our record is.”

Towns continues to be one of the league’s most dominant forces on the glass, entering Sunday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers averaging a league-best 11.8 rebounds per game, including 3.1 offensive rebounds.
