The Oklahoma City Thunder are not expected to pursue a blockbuster move at the trade deadline, as most league chatter suggests that 22-year-old wing Ousmane Dieng is the player most likely to be dealt if the team makes a move at all.
Even so, Oklahoma City could look to add depth in the frontcourt, particularly with Isaiah Hartenstein missing time due to injuries, writes Rylan Stiles of Sports Illustrated.
In an overview of seven possible trade candidates, Stiles largely zeroes in on reserve big men who may be attainable without a significant cost.
Among the names he highlights are veterans Kevin Love of the Jazz, Nick Richards from the Suns, Bobby Portis of the Bucks, and Jock Landale of the Grizzlies.
Stiles believes any of those players could potentially be acquired using Dieng along with second-round draft picks, an area where the Thunder have ample assets.
Stiles also points to Nets center Day’Ron Sharpe as another option, noting his strong per-minute production and suggesting he could fit into Oklahoma City’s non-taxpayer mid-level exception before the team makes a decision on his team option this offseason.
As a higher-end possibility, Stiles mentions Trey Murphy III of the Pelicans, who would be an ideal stylistic addition, though the price to land him would likely exceed what the Thunder are prepared to offer during the season.
