Warriors not planning to trade Jimmy Butler

The Golden State Warriors have surfaced in multiple trade discussions around the league, with one of the most notable names linked to them being Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Because Jimmy Butler and Antetokounmpo carry identical max salaries of $54.1 million, speculation has emerged about a potential one-for-one framework involving the two players.

Despite that chatter, the Warriors have reportedly reassured Butler that they have no plans to move him.

When asked about the possibility of including the injured forward in a trade package, Golden State general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. said he did not “envision” the player being dealt.

Butler is expected to be sidelined for roughly a year as he recovers from a torn ACL suffered on January 19.

While his contract could theoretically be used to help reshape the roster around Stephen Curry, moving Butler in a deal for Antetokounmpo would allow Golden State to match salary without having to part with multiple rotation players.

Even so, current indications suggest the Warriors are not looking to go that route.
