Warriors eye Giannis, only Curry untouchable

Stephen Curry appears to be the lone untouchable piece on the Golden State Warriors as the franchise aggressively explores a blockbuster trade for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo ahead of the NBA trade deadline.

Anthony Slater reported Saturday on ESPN that league and team sources believe every Warrior outside of Curry is vulnerable as Golden State searches for a roster-altering move to extend its championship window.

The Warriors sit eighth in the Western Conference at 27-23, a position that reflects competitiveness but also urgency as Curry, now 37, continues to perform at an elite level.

The two-time MVP is averaging 27.2 points per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the field and nearly 40 percent from three, remaining the engine of Golden State’s offense.

Behind him, roster certainty fades quickly as the front office evaluates how to consolidate talent for a superstar pairing that could redefine the franchise’s direction.

Draymond Green’s $25.8 million salary makes him one of the few realistic salary-matching pieces in any Antetokounmpo deal, especially given Golden State’s limited cap flexibility.

Jimmy Butler, sidelined for the rest of the season with an ACL injury, represents the other major contract that could be required to make the financial framework work, as he earns $54.1 million this season.

Antetokounmpo’s salary matches Butler’s number exactly, simplifying the math but not the cost, as Milwaukee would demand significant draft capital and young contributors.

On the court, the Greek forward remains one of the league’s most dominant forces, averaging 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists while shooting 64.5 percent from the field. Despite his production, the Bucks sit 12th in the Eastern Conference at 18-28.

Whether Golden State ultimately pulls the trigger remains uncertain, but the message around the league is clear: Curry is the foundation, and everything else is on the table.
