Tony Bradley is once again a free agent after his second 10-day contract with the Indiana Pacers expired Wednesday night, though a return later this season remains a possibility, per Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star.
Indiana would need to sign Bradley to a standard contract to bring him back, and head coach Rick Carlisle said a decision likely won’t come until after the trade deadline.
“There is a chance he could be back for us,” Carlisle said. “For obvious reasons right now, I think flexibility is something that’s important. We’ll see what shakes out.”
Bradley’s season has been anything but quiet. He earned a roster spot on a non-guaranteed deal before being waived January 5 ahead of his salary becoming fully guaranteed, then rejoined the team on back-to-back 10-day contracts.
Overall, he has appeared in 38 games, making three starts and averaging 4.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in 10.9 minutes per game.
Carlisle has spoken highly of Bradley’s contributions despite the uncertainty surrounding his role.
“He’s been terrific,” he said. “I’d have to think this opportunity has resurrected his career. He’s a very good rebounder, defender, passer, plays within the system really well.”
