Demin scores 25 as Nets end seven-game skid with win over Jazz

Egor Demin made NBA history by extending his streak of consecutive games with a 3-pointer to 34, finishing with 25 points and 10 rebounds as the Brooklyn Nets beat the Utah Jazz 109-99 on Friday night at Delta Center.

Demin was 6 of 12 from long range, setting the mark on Brooklyn’s first basket. Cam Thomas added 21 points, Day’ron Sharpe had 16 points and nine rebounds, and Danny Wolf contributed 14 as the Nets outscored Utah 20-2 in second-chance points.

Brooklyn used an 8-0 run capped by Jalen Wilson’s 3-pointer to take a 91-83 lead early in the fourth quarter. The Jazz briefly pulled within a basket on a dunk by Cody Williams, but Demin and Wolf combined for three 3-pointers to extend the lead to 100-90 with 4:45 remaining.

Thomas scored 14 straight points in the second quarter, helping the Nets build a 52-38 lead. Utah rallied to tie the score at 54-54 early in the second half on a layup by Ace Bailey, and the Jazz tied it three more times in the third, the last at 81 on Bailey’s 3-pointer, but never regained the lead.

Keyonte George led Utah with 26 points and seven assists, while Brice Sensabaugh added 18 off the bench. Kyle Filipowski recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Bailey contributed 12 points, but the Jazz have now lost five straight games and nine of their last 10.

Brooklyn shot 48% from the field, hitting 35% of their 3-pointers and converting 61% from the free-throw line. The Nets also controlled the glass, out-rebounding Utah 47-33.

With the win, Brooklyn improves to 14-34, snapping a seven-game losing streak, while Utah falls to 15-34. The Nets will face the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, and the Jazz visit the Toronto Raptors the same day.
