New York Knicks guard Landry Shamet will undergo a re-evaluation in four weeks after suffering a right shoulder sprain, NBA insider Shams Charania reported Wednesday.
Shamet, who had emerged as a starter this season, has been sidelined since leaving the Knicks’ game against the Orlando Magic on November 22.
Shamet has been one of the league’s top three-point shooters, connecting on 42.4% of attempts this season, providing New York with consistent spacing and scoring. Before the injury, he had started six games and averaged 9.3 points per contest, contributing off the bench as well as in the starting rotation.
Head coach Mike Brown previously indicated that Shamet’s absence for Monday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets was precautionary, noting a full evaluation would be conducted in the “coming days.” The guard’s return timeline now appears to hinge on the results of the upcoming assessment.
The Knicks, currently 11-6, have leaned on Shamet for perimeter shooting alongside starters like Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, and Jordan Clarkson. His injury comes at a time when New York is navigating a competitive Eastern Conference schedule and will require depth from the bench to maintain momentum.
