Full Kerry FC statement:
Kerry FC are delighted to announce the signing of Cian Murphy, who lands in the Kingdom on a pre-contract after previous spells with Cork City and, most recently, Cobh Ramblers.
A household name in League of Ireland terms, Murphy lands in Mounthawk Park with an impressive CV, having made 167 appearances in all competitions, scoring 30 goals from his centre-forward position. Of his League of Ireland appearances, 34 of those came in the Premier Division with Cork City. Cian made the switch to Cobh Ramblers last season, making 40 appearances for the Rams, scoring 10 goals in the process.
The Tipperary native made the step up to League of Ireland football 10 years ago in 2015 and has impressed ever since. Cian has won the First Division on two occasions with Cork City and will bring all that experience to the Kerry FC dressing room in 2026.
Speaking after he arrived in Mounthawk Park, Cian Murphy said, “I’m delighted to have signed for Kerry FC. Once the phone call came in from Colin and he explained the plans for the team going forward, I knew this would be the right move for me. I can’t wait to play in front of the Kerry fans in Mounthawk Park and hopefully score plenty of goals as well! I’m looking forward to meeting you all soon.”
Also speaking after Cian Murphy made the switch to Kerry FC, First Team Manager Colin Healy said, “We are delighted to have Cian in Mounthawk Park for the new season on a multi-year deal. He has proven how strong a player he is at this level over the last number of seasons, and his numbers speak for themselves. Cian is a great guy on and off the pitch and will add a huge amount of experience to our group going forward. I’m looking forward to seeing him out on the field in pre-season and getting going once the new term kicks off.”
Derry City have secured a big signing as they gear up for the 2026 Premier Division campaign.
Darragh Markey is moving to the Ryan McBride Brandywell from Drogheda United on a two-year deal.
The midfielder spent five seasons on Boyneside, and was part of the team that beat the Candystripes in the 2024 FAI Cup final.
