The Heat confirmed that Bam Adebayo will return on Wednesday against the Warriors, per Ira Winderman of The South Florida Sun Sentinel. Adebayo has been sidelined since November 5 with a left big toe sprain, missing six games.
Miami stayed competitive without him, going 4–2 and pulling out close wins over the Knicks and Cavaliers.
Before going down, Adebayo averaged 22.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists with a .462/.356/.861 shooting line in seven games. He also dramatically increased his three-point attempts to 6.4 per game, a huge jump compared to past seasons.
Kel’el Ware has filled in well as the starting center, recording four straight double-doubles and averaging 15.0 points and 14.3 rebounds.
Since Ware and Adebayo started together earlier in the season, Adebayo’s return won’t necessarily send Ware back to the bench.
Miami will still monitor Adebayo’s minutes in his first game back, according to Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald. Nikola Jovic, however, will remain out with a hip issue.
Golden State will also be short-handed. In addition to Stephen Curry, Al Horford, and Jonathan Kuminga being ruled out, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green have now been downgraded to out as well, per Anthony Slater of ESPN.
