Sixers forward Paul George made his season debut on Monday against his former team, the Clippers, while operating under a minutes restriction.

After the game, he told ESPN’s Tim Bontemps that he “felt good,” showing confidence in his recovery from offseason surgery on his left knee.

George was back in the starting unit and contributed nine points and seven rebounds during his 21 minutes on the floor.

“It felt great to finally play basketball again,” said George, who hadn’t appeared in a game since March 4.

“Been like eight months since I played, so it was a long journey. A lot of ups and downs, a lot of hiccups … but felt good to finally get out there, and I felt good. Rusty, but I felt good.”

Because of the minutes cap, George was held out for most of the fourth quarter while Philadelphia held on for a narrow two-point win.

As Bontemps notes, the 35-year-old explained that any increase in his playing time will depend on continued conversations with the team’s medical staff and how his body responds now that he’s back in action.
