
Norman Powell scored 19 points and Kel’el Ware added a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds as the Miami Heat held off a late rally to beat the New York Knicks 115-113 on Monday at Kaseya Center.
Davion Mitchell contributed 18 points, while Simone Fontecchio added 14 and Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Pelle Larsson chipped in 13 each for Miami, which improved to 8-6 despite missing Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro.
The Knicks, who fell to 8-5, were led by Deuce McBride’s 25 points, Mikal Bridges’ 23, and Karl-Anthony Towns’ 22 points with 16 rebounds.
Miami held a 10-point lead with three minutes remaining, but New York finished on an 11-3 run to cut the deficit to one on a Towns three-pointer with 22.4 seconds left. Mitchell promptly extended the lead to two with a free throw.
A late sequence nearly gave the Knicks a tie on a goaltending call that was overturned, leading to a jump ball at midcourt. McBride and Towns missed consecutive attempts as Miami secured the final rebound to seal the victory.
The Heat outscored the Knicks 43-28 from the bench, with New York’s reserves limited to 14 points each from Josh Hart and Jordan Clarkson.
Miami shot 45% from the field, 40% from three-point range, and converted 11 of 13 free throws, holding off a late push from New York. The Knicks shot 46% overall but managed just 25% from deep.
Miami hosts the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, while the Knicks travel to Dallas for their next matchup.
