San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama will miss several weeks due to a left calf strain, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.
The 21-year-old forward has been a cornerstone for the Spurs this season, averaging 26.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in 12 games.
Wembanyama’s injury comes after a strong start in which he led the Spurs to a 9-4 record, including notable performances such as 40 points and 15 rebounds in a season-opening win at Dallas. His presence has been crucial in San Antonio’s early-season success, contributing significantly on both ends of the floor.
The Spurs have won four of their first five home games this month, but Wembanyama’s absence leaves a major void in scoring and rim protection. He has averaged 34.7 minutes per game and is the team’s leader in rebounds and blocks, with 3.6 per contest.
De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper will need to shoulder additional offensive and defensive responsibilities while Wembanyama recovers. Fox has been contributing 22 points and 3.6 assists per game, while Castle averages 17.3 points and 7.5 assists.
San Antonio’s upcoming schedule includes home games against Memphis and Atlanta, followed by road trips to Phoenix, Portland, Denver, and Minnesota. The team will need to adjust rotations and manage minutes carefully during Wembanyama’s absence to maintain their early-season momentum.
