Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick credited his team’s depth and preparation following Saturday’s 119-95 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum.

Redick emphasized the team’s ability to regain momentum after recent struggles. “You don’t play well for three games a week in this league…you got to find moments to recapture what makes you a good basketball team,” he said.

The coach praised his staff’s role in the win, noting that late-night travel and back-to-back games required simplified preparation. “Coach Tai, Scotty, Greg, Drew Seaffort…they did a really good job of creating clarity for our team and we were able to go out and execute that,” Redick said.

Maxi Kleber, who had seen limited minutes this season, played a key role with his physicality, defense, and leadership on the court. Redick described him as embodying “what we want Laker spirit to be” through rebounding, defensive plays, and communication.

Addressing the Lakers’ response to Milwaukee’s third-quarter push, Redick highlighted the leadership of Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves. “They’ve done an amazing job of leading our basketball team…they just let us,” he said, referencing Doncic’s 41-point performance and Reaves’ 25 points with eight assists.

Redick also reflected on the benefits of giving bench players more responsibility during stretches when the team is undermanned. He cited Nick Smith Jr. as an example, noting that such opportunities build confidence and deepen the rotation ahead of LeBron James’ anticipated return.

The coach praised Deandre Ayton’s energy, explaining that the big man feeds off “the group’s energy and empowerment,” which has helped him become fully engaged with the team. Redick wore a shirt in support of Ayton, acknowledging his influence on team dynamics.

Saturday’s win marked the Lakers’ second consecutive game on a back-to-back and improved their record to 10-4. Despite missing Hachimura, Smart, and James, Los Angeles dominated early, leading 65-34 at halftime behind strong shooting and transition play.

The Lakers return home to face Utah on Tuesday, while the Bucks travel to Cleveland on Monday. Redick’s comments highlight a team finding cohesion and leadership amid injuries, with bench contributors stepping up to sustain Laker basketball.
