Paul Reed powered the Detroit Pistons with 28 points and 13 rebounds as the team captured a 124-113 victory over the Chicago Bulls at Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday night. Despite missing their entire usual starting lineup, Detroit improved to 10-2 with an eighth consecutive win.
Duncan Robinson scored 23 points before fouling out, while Daniss Jenkins recorded a career-high 12 assists alongside 18 points in his first NBA start. Ron Holland II added key contributions with 9 points and timely dunks that helped maintain the lead in the fourth quarter.
Chicago’s Matas Buzelis had 21 points and 14 rebounds, and Kevin Huerter added 20, but the Bulls struggled to overcome Detroit’s dominant inside presence and efficient shooting. Milwaukee’s woes continued with four consecutive losses after a strong 6-1 start.
The Pistons shot 60.5% from the floor in the first half, including 52.9% on three-pointers, leading to a season-high 68 points by halftime. Detroit’s bench stepped up to offset the absence of Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren, Tobias Harris, Ausar Thompson, and Jaden Ivey.
Chicago trimmed the lead to 97-96 in the fourth after scoring the first 11 points of the period, but Reed’s three-point play and Holland’s dunk swung momentum back to Detroit with 8:02 remaining. The Pistons’ rebounding advantage of 44-21 proved decisive in securing the victory.
Robinson, who has started all 12 games due to Ivey’s preseason knee surgery, scored 17 points in the first half, while Jenkins made an immediate impact with 16 points before halftime. Their combined efforts highlighted Detroit’s depth and resilience despite a depleted roster.
The Pistons host Philadelphia on Friday night, aiming to extend their streak, while Chicago travels to Utah on Sunday as they look to rebound from a fourth straight loss.
