The Indiana Pacers are close to getting a boost to their backcourt depth, as point guard Andrew Nembhard has been upgraded to questionable and is expected to return for Saturday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets.
Nembhard has been sidelined since suffering a shoulder injury in the season opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
His potential return would mark an important addition for Indiana, which has been relying heavily on Tyrese Haliburton for ballhandling duties.
Nembhard’s playmaking and defensive versatility were key parts of the Pacers’ rotation last season, and his comeback could help stabilize the team’s second unit.
In addition to Nembhard’s likely return, the Pacers will also have newly signed veteran guard Monte Morris available for the first time.
Indiana brought Morris in earlier this week to add experienced depth and steady decision-making at the point guard position.
With both guards expected to be active, Indiana will finally have more flexibility in its backcourt rotation heading into the game against Denver.
