Mike James turned back the clock with a dominant showing in AS Monaco’s 112–107 overtime victory against Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv, earning Round 9 MVP honors and making EuroLeague history in the process.
With his performance, James became the league’s all-time leader in performance index rating (PIR), surpassing Nando De Colo on the career list.
The veteran guard posted a PIR of 37, fueled by 34 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals – numbers that not only powered Monaco to a key road win but also elevated his career PIR total to 5,617.
It was a milestone moment for one of EuroLeague’s most consistent stars, whose combination of scoring and playmaking has kept him among the continent’s elite for years.
This marks the 12th time in James’s career that he has earned the MVP of the Round award, placing him just behind Shane Larkin (19) and tied for third all-time with Nando De Colo and Sasha Vezenkov (16 each).
Elijah Bryant of Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv followed closely with a PIR of 36 in a win over Dubai, while Virtus Bologna’s Saliou Niang posted 35 in a loss to Baskonia.
Dwayne Bacon (Dubai) and PJ Dozier (Efes) also had standout outings, each recording PIRs of 34.
