Brandon Ingram scored 20 points as the Toronto Raptors overcame a second-quarter deficit to beat the Atlanta Hawks 109-97 on Friday night at State Farm Arena.
Toronto trailed by 13 in the second quarter but took the lead 82-81 on a Scottie Barnes layup midway through the fourth. Immanuel Quickley added a key 3-pointer to make it 85-81, sparking a decisive run that put the Raptors ahead for good.
RJ Barrett contributed 19 points, while Quickley added 18 and Barnes recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Raptors shot 40.7% from the field and hit 31.6% of their 3-pointers.
Atlanta was led by Jalen Johnson with 21 points, Nickeil Alexander-Walker with 20, and Kristaps Porzingis with 17. The Hawks were without All-Star guard Trae Young, who is sidelined with a sprained right MCL, and fell to 1-1 in NBA Cup play.
Toronto has now won two straight NBA Cup games and four overall, rebounding from a four-game losing streak earlier this season. The Raptors opened the season with a win in Atlanta before dropping four consecutive games.
Barnes’ fourth-quarter layup and Quickley’s timely 3-pointer were part of a late surge that sealed the victory. Toronto also dominated the boards with 48 total rebounds, including 23 on the offensive glass.
The Hawks struggled from long range, making just 23.7% of their 3-pointers, while Toronto hit 12 of 38 from deep. Atlanta’s bench combined for 36 points but could not keep pace with the Raptors’ balanced scoring.
Toronto will continue its five-game road trip with a matchup at Philadelphia on Saturday night, while the Hawks return home to face the Los Angeles Lakers.
