
Mike James delivered a historic performance as AS Monaco edged Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv 112–107 in overtime on Thursday night. The guard scored 34 points, adding 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals.
James reached a new milestone, surpassing Nando De Colo to become the EuroLeague’s all-time leader in Performance Index Rating (5,617 PIR). He also extended his scoring record to 5,407 points and tied Juan Carlos Navarro for second all-time in three-pointers made with 623.
Monaco trailed for most of the game, only reclaiming the lead late in the fourth quarter when Matthew Strazel made it 85–84 with under five minutes remaining. James, however, kept the team competitive, contributing throughout with both scoring and playmaking.
The fourth quarter and overtime highlighted James’ dominance. He scored 15 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and added an assist in the fourth, then contributed 3 more points and 2 assists in overtime. His 37 PIR was the joint third-highest in his 332-game EuroLeague career.
Maccabi started strong, leading 26–22 after the first quarter and holding close throughout the first three periods. Lonnie Walker IV led the hosts with 19 points, while T.J. Leaf added 18. However, their 31.3% three-point shooting and 12 turnovers proved costly against Monaco’s consistent performance.
For Monaco, Daniel Theis added 17 points and 9 rebounds, while Jaron Blossomgame contributed 15 points. Nemanja Nedovic chipped in with 8 points and 5 assists, supporting James’ all-around effort. The visitors shot 62.8% from two-point range and 73.3% from the free-throw line, helping secure the road victory.
Monaco improved to 6-3, marking their third consecutive win after victories over Olympiacos Piraeus and Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens.
Monaco faces Partizan in Belgrade on Tuesday in Round 10, followed by Crvena Zvezda on Thursday. Maccabi travels to face defending champion Fenerbahce before returning home to host Baskonia.
