Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards will miss time with a right hamstring strain, the team announced Monday.
An MRI confirmed the injury, and while he’ll be reevaluated in one week, The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski reports the recovery is expected to take closer to two weeks.
Edwards exited Sunday’s game against the Pacers just three minutes in after feeling tightness in his hamstring. The All-Star guard had started the season on fire, scoring 41 points against Portland and 31 versus the Lakers.
With Minnesota facing Denver tonight and seven more games in the next two weeks, Edwards is projected to miss at least eight contests.
Julius Randle and guards Mike Conley, Jaylen Clark, Terrence Shannon Jr., and Bones Hyland are expected to share the scoring load in his absence.
Known for his durability, Edwards had appeared in 381 of 390 possible games since entering the NBA. The Timberwolves now face the challenge of staying competitive without their top offensive weapon and team leader.
