Olympiacos is actively searching for a new guard to strengthen its backcourt, and Jared Butler has emerged as a strong candidate to join the reigning Greek champions.
According to a Eurohoops source, Butler has been offered to Olympiacos, and the club is currently conducting a detailed evaluation of his profile before making a final decision.
“The team is examining thoroughly his case and may decide to pull the trigger and add him,” the report notes, suggesting serious internal discussions are underway.
Butler’s basketball résumé highlights both collegiate success and professional experience across multiple leagues. He played his college basketball at Baylor University, where he became one of the standout guards in the nation.
During his junior year in 2021, Butler was recognized as a consensus first-team All-American and played a pivotal role in leading the Baylor Bears to their first-ever NCAA national championship.
His performance in the tournament earned him the Final Four Most Outstanding Player award, underscoring his leadership and clutch play on the biggest stage.
Following his college triumph, Butler entered the 2021 NBA Draft, where he was selected in the second round by the New Orleans Pelicans before being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Over the next few seasons, he gained valuable experience both in the NBA and the G League.
Butler suited up for teams such as the Salt Lake City Stars, Grand Rapids Gold, Oklahoma City Blue, and Capital City Go-Go, while also spending time on NBA rosters with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Washington Wizards, and Philadelphia 76ers.
If Olympiacos signs Butler, he’d provide proven guard depth for both Greek and EuroLeague competition.
