Victor Wembanyama says he’s unfazed by the ongoing fascination with his height as he heads into the 2025-26 NBA season listed at 7-foot-5.
“Over the years, it’s become a non-subject to me because in my opinion, there are so many more interesting things about me,” the San Antonio Spurs star joked during Monday’s press conference.
“Sometimes I am surprised there is still a conversation, because in my mind, it doesn’t really make a difference. That’s the truth. I’m taller than everybody else, that is something I already know.”
The 21-year-old French center is set to make his return Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks after being sidelined last season when doctors discovered a deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder.
“After not playing for so long, it doesn’t get better than that,” Wembanyama said of his long-awaited comeback. “I’m very, very excited, of course. I miss that adrenaline, the stakes of the game.”
As the Spurs prepare for their season opener, Wembanyama made it clear what success would mean this year.
“Success would mean getting into the Playoffs,” he emphasized. “That means sixth seed.”
