Team Flexachem KCYMS welcomed reigning Superleague Cup champions Killester to Killorglin on Saturday evening for their third game of the season. The game tipped off at 7.15 with the home team having to play the game without their Swedish playmaker Rami Ghanhem due to injury.
The opening quarter was a cagey affair with good defending by both sides,Eche Okeke scored 8 points in this quarter along with 7 from Patrick Lanipekun and 2 each from Cam Timmons and Eoin Evans while Killester had scores from Robert Braswell,Josh Wilson,Matthew McGrath and Farough Raheem to leave the score at 19 to 21 in favour of Killester by quarter’s end.
The Dublin side shaded the second quarter again to leave them ahead at the half by 33 to 38.
Killester coach Jonathan Grennall had his troops well groomed in defence,so much so, that Jordan Blount had only 2 points to his name and Emilyian Grudov was scoreless at this stage.
Grudov did score 7 in the third and Jordan added another 4 but constant turnovers cost the home side dearly and by the end of the third they trailed Killester by 12 on a score of 51 to 63.
Killester kept Team Flexachem scoreless for the opening three and a half minutes of the fourth while continuing to score themselves and once again constant turnovers had the Launesiders in dire straits with Killester running out easy winners in the end on a final score of 62 to 90.
Top scorers on the night for the home side were Eche Okeke on 18,Patrick Lanipekun on 11 and Cam Timmons on 10,while on the Killester side ,Robert Braswell had 23,Josh Wilson 20 with Paul Dick adding another 14.
