Hugo Gonzalez revealed he declined multiple draft-and-stash offers before being selected by the Boston Celtics. The 28th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft said two franchises asked him to stay in Europe for a year, but he wasn’t interested.

“There were two franchises ahead of Boston that asked me if I wanted to be drafted, but that I had to stay in Europe for a year, to which I told them that, in that case, I said no,” Gonzalez said on Drafteados, via HoopsHype. “Then one call and two minutes later, you’re on TV going to Boston.”

In the 2024–25 season, he averaged 4.5 points and 2.2 rebounds over 36 domestic league games while shooting 25% from three-point range.
