The Portland Trail Blazers are locking in one of their top young scorers for the long term. According to NBA insider Shams Charania, guard Shaedon Sharpe has agreed to a four-year, $90 million rookie contract extension with the franchise.
The new deal secures Sharpe through the 2029–30 season and rewards his steady rise as a primary offensive option for Portland. The 22-year-old averaged 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists over 72 games in the 2024–25 season while shooting 45.2% from the field.
Selected seventh overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, Sharpe has developed into one of the league’s most explosive young guards. His athleticism, scoring ability, and shot creation have made him a central part of Portland’s rebuild alongside Scoot Henderson and Toumani Camara.
Sharpe’s progression has been evident across his three NBA seasons. After averaging 9.9 points as a rookie, he boosted his scoring to 15.9 points in his sophomore campaign and then to a career-best 18.5 last season. His versatility as a finisher and improved efficiency inside the arc have been key to his growth.
Before signing the extension, Sharpe was playing on a four-year, $27 million rookie scale contract. His new $90 million deal marks a significant step forward, placing him among the higher-earning young guards from his draft class.
Sharpe’s ability to score in transition and attack off the dribble has been vital for the Trail Blazers’ developing offense. Though his three-point percentage dipped to 31.1% last season, his midrange production and finishing consistency kept him a reliable scoring threat.
In 184 career games, Sharpe has averaged 14.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 44.9% from the field and 33.0% from deep. His durability and improvement have made him one of Portland’s most dependable young pieces.
