The Washington Wizards are preparing to waive guard Dillon Jones, according to reports.
The player was acquired earlier in the offseason from the Oklahoma City Thunder, but he is now expected to be released before the roster deadline.
The Wizards needed to move at least one fully guaranteed contract in order to comply with regular season roster limits by Monday.
Jones is the player they intend to part ways with to meet that requirement.
Unless another team claims him off waivers, Jones will remain on Washington’s books as dead salary.
In that case, he will count for $2.7 million against the Wizards’ cap for the 2026-27 season.
