The Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly planning to waive second-year forward/center Tyler Smith.

The move would be made to open a roster spot in order to keep Amir Coffey on the team for opening night.

Coffey secured his place after joining the Bucks on a training camp contract and earning his way onto the final roster.

Smith was noticeably absent from Milwaukee’s open practice on Sunday, signaling the organization’s direction.

The Bucks have until 5 PM ET on Monday to reach full regular season roster compliance.

If Milwaukee follows through with waiving Smith, his salary will remain on the books.

He would count for $1.9 million in dead money for the 2025-26 season.

The remaining two seasons on the 6-foot-10 big man’s contract are non-guaranteed, which gives the Bucks financial flexibility beyond this year.
