Nets cut Kobe Bufkin

Via Atlanta Hawks

The Brooklyn Nets have decided to waive guard Kobe Bufkin. He was acquired earlier in the offseason from the Atlanta Hawks in a move designed to create salary flexibility for Atlanta.

By releasing Bufkin, Brooklyn will carry $4.5 million in dead money against their cap for the 2025-26 season. Even with that hit, the Nets are projected to begin the season approximately $190,000 above the league’s salary floor.

Bufkin’s departure signals that Tyrese Martin and Jalen Wilson are in line to secure spots on the Nets’ opening night roster.

While neither Martin nor Wilson is on a fully guaranteed contract, both earned consistent playing time in Brooklyn’s rotation last season and now appear set to stay with the team heading into the new year.
