Williams becomes oldest Snooker winner at a rankings event

Mark Williams has become snooker’s oldest winner of a rankings event by beating Shaun Murphy in the final of the Xi’an Grand Prix.

The Welshman has now won 27 major titles and is the first man to triumph in his teens, 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s.

Williams is 50 years and 206 days old, and takes over the record previously held by Ray Reardon.
