Raptors hold off Wizards in tight preseason finish

Toronto secured a 113-112 win over Washington at Capital One Arena on Sunday night. The Raptors raised their preseason record to 3-1, while the Wizards fell to 0-1.

Toronto opened a 26-20 lead in the first quarter. Immanuel Quickley scored seven points with a three, and RJ Barrett added nine on a three and free throws.

Alex Sarr blocked two shots and tallied five points for Washington. CJ McCollum contributed five with a layup, but Toronto forced four turnovers.

The second quarter flipped to Washington, who outscored Toronto 33-26 for a 53-52 halftime edge. McCollum drained three threes for 16 points total.

Khris Middleton added six points with two assists. Scottie Barnes notched eight points and three steals for the Raptors.

Toronto responded in the third, winning 35-26 to lead 87-79 entering the fourth. Quickley erupted for 18 points overall, including two threes.

Barrett reached 15 points with two steals. George blocked four shots and scored 11 for the Wizards.

No major absences marked the rosters for either side. Both teams relied on full rotations in the exhibition.

Washington mounted a 33-26 rally in the final frame to close within one at 112-111. Marvin Bagley III scored 10 points with seven rebounds off the bench.

Cam Whitmore added 10 points. Toronto sealed it with Will Riley’s free throws after a foul.

Quickley paced the Raptors with 18 points on 6-of-16 shooting. Barrett followed with 15 points and three rebounds.

Barnes finished with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists. Walter added 10 points with four rebounds.

McCollum led Washington with 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Sarr recorded 12 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks.

Middleton tallied 11 points and five assists. George contributed 11 points and four blocks.

Toronto generated 25 fast-break points from 19 Wizards turnovers.
