Utah Jazz forward Georges Niang will be re-evaluated in two to three weeks as he continues to recover from a left foot injury, the team announced Saturday.

NBA insider Marc Stein reported that Niang is dealing with a fourth metatarsal stress reaction in his left foot and remains in the rehabilitation phase of his recovery process.

The update comes nearly three weeks after Niang was initially sidelined during offseason workouts. The 32-year-old veteran sustained the injury while training ahead of his return to Utah, marking an unfortunate delay in his second stint with the franchise.

Niang was reacquired by the Jazz in August from the Boston Celtics in exchange for RJ Luis Jr. and a trade exception. The move reunited him with the team where he spent four productive seasons from 2017 to 2021, earning a reputation as one of the NBA’s most dependable bench shooters.

Before returning to Salt Lake City, Niang’s 2024–25 season saw him split time between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks, where he averaged 10.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 41 percent from three-point range.

His perimeter shooting and locker room leadership were expected to complement the Jazz’s young core, which now includes rookies Ace Bailey, Will Riley, Jamir Watkins, and John Tonje.
