For a team that has struggled with turnovers in recent years, the Orlando Magic may have found a perfect solution in veteran point guard Tyus Jones.

As Jason Beede of The Orlando Sentinel notes, Jones arrives in Orlando with a reputation as one of the most reliable floor generals in the league.

He has led the NBA in assist-to-turnover ratio for six consecutive seasons, a mark of his ability to organize an offense while minimizing mistakes – precisely the skill set the Magic have been missing.

Jones explained that Orlando had been on his radar for some time, and when the opportunity arose this summer, the timing finally felt right.

“This has been a place where I’ve kind of had my eye on and thought the fit was there the last few years,” he said. “It eventually played itself out and the time is right now. I’m excited to be here. I plan on making those fans happy and look forward to playing in front of them.”

For the Magic, the addition of Jones not only brings stability to the backcourt but also veteran leadership for a roster filled with young talent.

Jones has played 10 seasons for 4 teams, including the Grizzlies and Timberwolves. He has averaged 7.7 points, 4.4 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 682 regular-season games.
