With the recent lineup adjustments of the Denver Nuggets roster, Cameron Johnson is one of the many additions for the 2025-2026 season.
The former Brooklyn Nets is currently adapting to the Nuggets’ system, primarily when the play revolves around their franchise superstar Nikola Jokić.
Johnson said that in the other practice, Jokic unexpectedly passed him the ball, and he turned it over.
“He threw me a really unexpected pass the other day. I lost the ball; it felt uncomfortable. They all told me to get used to it, so I accepted it,” Johnson started in a media scrum.
The 6-foot-8 wing was confused playing with the Joker, as his passes were unpredictable even to his teammates, which led to frustration among the new guys.
“A lot of his passes are those without looking, where his body is leaning towards one side and he passes to the other one, it’s going to be great to have open looks from those situations.”
Being a three-time MVP and bringing a chip to the franchise means that he has the respect of the entire organization, which warrants specific adjustments for Jokic.
“It’s all getting where it should quickly, you should just get on the court and hear all of that in play,” he said.
The 29-year-old has been known for taking Michael Porter Jr.’s spot in Denver and is expected to be more effective and make more brilliant plays, resolving the lapses they had last season.
“You see it on the paper, go through plays, but it’s different when you are in the game to hear the play call or defensive adjustment, understand that, and implement it. It becomes an instinct,” Johnson concluded.
Johnson had tallied good figures of 18.8 points, 4.3 boards, and 3.4 assists, and shot 47.5% from the field last season during his Brooklyn stint.
